What to expect

If you are interested in speaking to me about starting therapy, I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation online or by telephone. This provides the opportunity to discuss your situation and hopes for therapy. You will also get a feel for how I work and whether I am the right person for you.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at the same time each week. I can provide short-term contracts (6 or 12 weeks) or longer, open-ended support, depending on your preferences. My fee is £65 per session.

First Session(s):

If you decide to start therapy, we will spend a bit of time getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. At this stage, I will ask more questions than usual. We can also use this initial meeting to help you feel comfortable in the space, set some aims and start to build our relationship.

Subsequent sessions:

Sessions are always client-led. You decide what you want to talk about. My part is to listen fully and ask open questions to expand our understanding. I also pay attention to how you are finding being in therapy, to support you and help the process along. I try to encourage an open dialogue with clients, encouraging you to discuss what is working for you as well as what is not. At the end of each session, we take some time to summarise what we have talked about and where we might start next week.

Ending:

Ultimately it is up to you to decide when you would like your therapy to end. Whether it is open-ended or we have planned for a certain number of sessions, I review our work regularly to help you get the most from it. An important part of this is deciding when is a good time to stop. As therapy draws to a close, I work with clients to help shore up the work we have done and prepare to end. Some clients may decide to come back in the future and the door is open for this.
