About me

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor (MBACP).

I have trained as an integrative, relational therapist. This means that I use the therapeutic relationship to provide a strong the foundation for the work, but also as an indication of how my clients relate to themselves and others.

I specialise in several therapeutic traditions, including person-centred, psychodynamic, existential and CBT. This means that I can tailor the work according to each client’s individual needs and preferences. However, my focus is on empathic listening and reflection rather than using practical exercises and techniques.

I have experience of working with a wide variety of adults, in charity and educational settings. My areas of expertise include:

Anxiety

Depression

Bereavement

Trauma

Relationship issues

Low self-esteem

Problems from childhood

Chronic and terminal illness

Identity and searching for meaning

Older adults

Young adults and students

In my practice, I adhere to an established code of ethics (BACP). I am also committed to my ongoing growth as a therapist, keeping abreast of developments in therapy and attending professional training.

Prior to my training, I worked in a number of different areas including charities, schools, social services and corporate organisations. I bring this life experience to my work with clients and understanding their worlds.

Perhaps most importantly, I learn from every client I work with. Psychotherapy is a profound and enhancing experience for both people in the relationship and this is a big part of why I love the work that I do.
